Dan Marty Design and Maison au Natural- then and now

Dan Marty then...

NOW...

Dan Marty is one of my all time favorite designers and shop keepers and has been for a very long time.  At one time he owned a shop in Costa Mesa called Les Interiors and that is where I feel in love.  His look makes me feel comfortable and alive.  Yesterday I came across an old publication that showed his home when he lived in Orange County.  (I am sorry it was just a torn out piece with no label on it.)  To look at his home then and now is really fun.  He carried so many of his treasures over and I love that.  Things can look wonderful mixed and moved.  The bottle collections and the lamps and don't forget the beautiful bamboo bed that has a new look.  The thing is that I still love the old look too.  Just amazing the slight progression but not a major change like we often see with designers.  I am looking forward to the opportunity to see his new store in LA.  Maison au Natural I am sure it is just wonderful too!

I want to say that the first images are Victoria Magazine since I swooned over them for years. He pulls together the most inviting styles. Heidi

Thank you so much Heidi! I could not find that info on the pictures I had.

Yes, so much sleeker & cleaner, isn't it? I love the phrase about painting antique furniture. Yes, I totally agree with that. Paint can always come off. I even have to argue with my furniture refinisher man. xx's

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous !!!! Such lovely textures and fabrics and a look that never dates. That is the ultimate in design. Fashion comes and goes, but this look is timeless. XXXX

love the Dan Marty montage.. his PDC showroom is always a joy to see as well! but what is up with his unfinished upholstery in the most recent spread. I love old world and I love rustic but that just seems unfinshed... anyone else slightly confused?

Love these pics with a passion! Have to say, I think I like the orginal photos best. His earlier work seems so natural and perfectly 'undecorated', and for me it doesn't get much better than that. Thanks for such a lovely post. Kerri xx

I have been a fan of Dan Marty for years. From his shop in Costa Mesa, where I would wander to get inspired, to his show room in the design center in LA. I haven't been to the new store, but I'm looking forward to a look-see. Thank you for a wonderful post Sue

He's great! Give me a Dan Marty room, a tall Pimms and a Somerset Maugham novel and I'm a happy woman.
