One of my favorites

I simply love this kitchen from House Beautiful... The window, the door, the dishes just about everything.  I have a question... does anyone know where I can find a jar like the one that is holding the silverware on the table??  I want one of these so badly and I cannot seem to find one.  Anyone?

Have a lovely Sunday!  I will be at the flea market shopping the morning away..

Incredible room.

BUT. Why is the outdoor grill in the picture? NEVER would I let this picture go into a magazine if I were the photographer, stylist, garden designer, photo editor, story editor & etc.

Landscapes are too often overlooked for good design &/or styling. This one, alas, included.

I have this in my files as well. My eyes are not so good today but the container the silverware is in is similar to an old wine cooler I have. Mine is oval with the separator in the middle for ice on one side. I use mine for utensils on the stove. Picked mine up at an auction a few years ago. I'm an antique/fun found objects dealer and do personal shopping for lots of designers. I'll keep this in mind and let you know if we come across anything. We are giving away 3 antique leather books right now. You might want to stop by the blog for a chance to win.

I love that kitchen I remember it from house beautiful too. That wall of windows is fabulous! Sorry I can't help you out with the tin for the silverware but I'll keep an eye out while antiquing today.

I prefer a glimpse into everyday lives, w/grill, a dog bowl on the floor; it is more pleasing to me when a shot is less contrived, real.

yeah that silverware holder looks like shiny steel or tin that was popular for holding flour and sugar back in the 50s or 60s...take the top off and pop in the silverware. check out thrift shops or retro kitchen shops perhaps?

This is exquisite...did not notice the grill until Tara pointed it out, but now I can't help focusing on it!

Is this Jill Sharp's house?

My guess is they are PROUD of that grill! It appears to have been carefully pushed into the frame jusssst so because the vanishing point is roughly in line with the foreground. I agree with Mona that the countertop vessel is most likely a two-chambered wine cooler, possibly hotel silver. I've seen them with a pair of stubby little handles, or lifts, for transporting. I hadn't noticed the dog bowl until Louise mentioned it!

Lovely image, I did not see the grill and had to go back and take a peek. It just makes the image seem like a real home to me. Not perfect just lovely and lived in. I am doing a post on a silverware holder like Ina Garten has in her kitchen it is not silver but a clear simple glass, I just love the look. For fall I am going to put my bakelite ivory handles knives in it. I am going thrifting to find mine. I see others gave you that reccomendation as well. Good luck!! Kathysue

Perhaps the container with the cutlery is actually a "cache pot", traditionally used for plants. It would have the necessary weight to hold the cutlery without tipping.

The photograph is lovely and the fact that the room appears to be used by a family makes it even more so. Love, love, love the windows and door!

Thanks for the inspiring post.

The window is fantastic!!! While I prefer real life homes featured in British and French publications, I would have pushed the barbecue to one side. It just doesn't go.

The cutlery seems to be in a tin. Maybe a canister or a tin of tea stripped of its label.

PS, This is not what you're ultimately looking for, but keep the terms "wine bucket" and/or "wine cooler" in mind as you widen your search: http://www.potterybarn.com/products/hotel-silver-plated-double-wine-cooler/?pkey=cwine-storage-buckets

That window/door is amazing. You have a lovely blog!

The silverware holder may be like the ones at ABC or John Derian, both in New York. It's just like a tin tomato can with the little ripples--only ceramic and glazed bright silver on the outside
