Light Oak Wood Flooring

I have had wood flooring on my mind this week as I am specifying a big design job and have chosen to use a light oak wood flooring.  The flooring pictured above is by far one of my favorites and I have used it several times over the years.  We are debating on the chevron or some other pattern for the space as it is quite large.  I am looking to install this same floor in my Living and Dining area in the coming months also- which I am even more excited about.  Do you have a favorite that you have used?  If you do I would love to hear about it!

Love light flooring if done in a pattern. We have dark flooring and it's straight but then again it's 220+ years old. I can't wait to see your new floor, love that second image.

light flooring in a herringbone pattern just reminds me of classic Parisian apartments - so chic and timeless :)

I love the herringbone pattern more than anything, whether light or aged dark oak. So beautiful!

We just laid red birch in a chevron pattern in our building. I love it! Just be aware that it is more expensive than herringbone (which in turn is more than straight plank) because there's a lot of waste produced by the 45 degree cuts and because it takes more time to cut each plank that way than it does to butt regular planks straight from the mill up against each other. In a small space it probably doesn't matter that much but if the space is big it can add up.

i've been looking at light hardwood floors for a while now, too. and while i love the chevron pattern, i'll probably go with straight. our house isn't old & i don't think it would make sense to do patterns.

I love both the first and the second photo. I tend to believe that reddish and dark flooring is very popular these days. On the other hand I think light tones make rooms brighter. So I think oak flooring is a great choice. I personally prefer engineered flooring to solid wood floor due to many advantages that come with the engineered technology. Finally I have to say that patterns and herringbone looks just fantastic. I am sure your rooms will look great!
