Gustave Flaubert,
the French writer best known for his novel Madame Bovary, is
generally attributed with the saying, "Le bon Dieu est dans le
detail".
Over the years
this expression has morphed and changed but the simple message remains the
same...and that is… that whatever we do, should be done thoroughly and to the
very best of our abilities. The details are what make all the difference...
In design the details make the space come together and in a home the details are what make the space special and what in the end is truly a home. A home is just a shell waiting for life to fill it up.
In much the same way we need each other to make those details of our lives come together into something really wonderful. All of that detail is so necessary to make us who we are.
Life is in the detail make them all special.

I love your comment that a home is just a shell waiting for life to fill it up!! Alexandra Stoddard always wrote about the rituals we create in order to elevate our daily tasks. She wrote about the daily ritual of serving tea. She had the opportunity to visit tea houses in Japan. They are famous for their attention to detail--so much so that it is an art form.
Have a great day!

My dear darling husband reminds me that the devil is in the details.
As we finish up our addition, all the details are so important to be devilish over. Wonderful details.
