upholstery...

I am so excited today is the big day that I take my sweet new sofa to the upholsterer!  I know that sounds crazy but it took me a while to decide on the fabric and then the pillows and so now that the fabric has arrived I am so excited to get this project underway.  I chose a dark charcoal linen for the sofa and one of Windsor Smith's new fabrics from Kravet for pillows, Kaveka in Java.  I am going to mix in some vintage fabrics with them.

It is going to be a completely different look for my space as my sofa now is slipcovered in natural linen.  Very exciting around here!  I will also be picking up some other pieces that I have been waiting for so I can finally take some photos of the new and improved dining room too.

What do you think?  Very dramatic right?

I love the style of this couch ..cant wait to see the after pic! Dont you just wish you could upholster yourself?! I so wish I could do it. I have often thought about taking an upholstry course at the local tech school and see if I would be any good at it. Sure would save us money if we could do it ourselves right? If you dont mind me asking how much, knowing that it might be a different cost elsewhere in the country, does it cost to have someone do a couch that size? Thanks, have a lovely day!

Great fabric choices. I have a chocolate linen sofa and just ordered Windsor Smith's fabric by Kravet in Garden, color Java, to have pillows made. Can't wait to see your sofa when it's done!

high drama! cannot wait to see the result. i've just ordered swatches for recovering an antique sofa, such a thrill, i'm a bit nervous. i'm hoping to do it myself…we'll see how that goes! xx

I have a sofa EXACTLY like this, in pale blue velvet. I've been thinking of recovering it in an ivory linen;
your fabric choice is going to look amazing!

That is the perfect couch! I can't wait to see it done. For some reason I have a difficult time finding a great couch. Maybe because its challenging to find comfort and good design in one. This looks like it accomplishes both! Thanks for the inspiration!
