at home...

I came across these beautiful images on No. 19 and completely fell in love with the layered and real life look of them.  Sometimes I really need to be reminded that I need to design for me..  it does not always work that way for me at home.  I am thinking it might be fun to start a new series of real homes - designers at home.. Are you interested?  Well if you are drop me a line and we will see where it leads..  Wishing you a creative and productive Monday!

I am so interested. I do not have a degree in design, but am considered a designer in my town. I am on my 7th and final renovation.

My photos are just from my plain old camera and I just capture what's going on each day in my own little world.

Loving the idea of real homes showing ideas that can be adapted for the ordinary home that is not a 'picture house' but one that is lived in and is perhaps just a simple 3 bed semi. Can't wait.

Love these images...they do have that layered, lived in look that i love. I love the idea of series like this...I would be very interested. We are just getting settled in our new (old) home and this is the look I'm trying to achieve. A house built in 1900 makes it a lot easier. Nothing is perfect...but that's kinda what I like.

This is exactly what I was thinking just from looking at these beautiful pictures! I can't believe you said it! Yes, you should do it! It would be wonderful….and make it REAL!!! Real life, real homes, real designers in their own homes! I think it sounds like a huge hit! Can't wait to see it!

I am a designer in Charlotte, NC and would love to share some images of the "imperfect" way that we live. I would also love to see and read those of others. Great idea. Let me know if it takes off...

Great idea. As an interior designer I use my house as a place to try new ideas. Always changing. My clients love to see my ideas in person. Think your readers would enjoy. A
Happy to share my designs with you and your readers. Mary Bairstow Designs.

These look fantastic. They would look even clearer after laser eye surgery though!

Love the idea of a series of real homes. I want to see real homes that live beautiful, rather than heavily styled homes that don't look that way for long. I did a post the other day on a design duo I love because I think the spaces they design would live the way they look. More or less anyway. I love the second image, wish I was better at creating a layered look rather than a cluttered look. It seems to be a fine line and I am usually on the wrong side.

I absolutely love the idea! I don't like overly designed or styled homes that don't lived in, like most of your comments. I think the most interesting homes look like they are lived in and enjoyed...anticipating the series.
